Books on digital history come and go in rapid succession. Many focus only on how to gather sources without noting how to apply the historical method to your research. After going through the "gee-whiz" phase of digital history, scholars are discovering the potential and limits of online research. Fortunately, Oxford University Press has published an excellent guide to historical research that combines both digital and nondigital sources. If I had to pick a single book to bring to a deserted island that had wi-fi, it would be . . . . drumbeat . . .
